Heyday Dungarees Sewing Pattern – Child

(10 customer reviews)

$14.00 AUD

Level: Beginner+

0-3m – Age 12

Description

The Child Heyday Dungarees pattern combines comfort with a funky sense of style.

This is a relaxed fit dungaree/overall. It has tie straps which don’t need undoing in order to take the garment on and off! Choose between button holes or loops. In addition, there are FIVE pockets for hiding all your stuff. They are designed to be long and worn rolled at the ankle.

An overlocker/serger will create the neatest finish, but importantly, a regular sewing machine is all you need for all options.

This pattern goes from 0-3m up to Age 12. The baby and toddler sizes will work over disposable or trim cloth nappies. If you’re looking for a more relaxed fit then the Wild & Free Dungaree pattern may be a better choice for you

There is a matching ladies’ Heyday Dungarees pattern.

The Child Heyday Dungarees pattern is designed for medium weight, soft, woven fabrics such as corduroy, denim, linen and twill.

This is an intermediate level pattern. Construction is very simple, but you need to be comfortable sewing through multiple layers of fabric.

This listing is for 4 downloadable PDF files: Instructions, a print-at-home pattern, a copy shop pattern and a projector pattern.

Print the print-at-home pattern on A4/legal/letter sized paper.

Take the copy shop file to a professional printer to print onto large sheets of paper.

Use the projector file to project the pattern straight onto your fabric.

Such a versatile pattern, cant be smart or casual. Lots of pocket options.. Great pattern

This pattern was my favourite gift last Christmas – thank you Alice! After all of the amazing photos I had seen of everyone else’s heydays I couldn’t wait to make a pair. I started with the kids first and it was so much easier than I had expected. I plan to add a bit of elastic to the back of the next pair for my skinny mini so that they fit a little more snuggly around the waist (my personal preference) and then a pair for myself! There is also a facing option as an alternative to the original design which I plan to try too ☺️.

Fabulous pattern and easy to follow. made it for my grandson in babycord and it has withstood his adventurous play. And he looks cute in them. they are easy to take on and off for nappy change too, if you can catch him!

Love this easy to sew pattern. Instructions are easy to follow, pattern is easy to assemble. I have made over 10 of these now and everyone loves the simplicity of the design and fit too.

  5. Norain Booth

Super chuffed to have comfortable dungarees from scratch, thanks to this easy-to-follow, very versatile pattern. I have been fancying having a go at making my own dungarees and I figured I’d first try with a children’s sized one. The design is neat and I appreciate the different options for straps. I love that the different sizes are in layers and I followed the measurements guide for a size that was spot on, with room for our little person to wiggle and grow. Making the Heydays was less complex than I had anticipated. I went from old duvet cover to dungarees in a day, and I am looking forward to making many more!

  6. Jenn CRIMEEN

These are cute and fun but if I’m honest I don’t find the instructions or pictures as clear and easy to follow as other pattern companies, I think I prefer real pictures of the garments and not shapes depicting the garments, example I prefer exact measurement place pocket piece 1.5” on back leg etc or have markings on pattern
    Thanks

Hi Jenn, thanks for the feedback. We’ve done extensive customer research on the question of photos vs. diagrams and the results were exactly 50/50. So whichever we chose, there were always going to be some that preferred the other option. We do work really hard to make them as clear as possible.
The Heydays pattern does have pocket markings – both for the four leg pockets and the bib pockets. The pocket guide lines are a little lighter (to avoid confusion with the outer lines) so perhaps if your printer was low on ink you may have missed them?

Honestly, this is my favorite children’s pattern. I made 4 pairs of Christmas overalls for various friends and they all fit great and were lovely. Couldn’t recommend this pattern more!

  8. Catherine Craston (verified owner)

Such a great staple pattern with a good size range. The instructions were easy to follow and the finished dungarees went down a storm!

  9. marie_m.b (verified owner)

I’ve made this pattern for both my son and daughter, and for friends children.
I love that this comes in both adult and child sizes so I can twin with my littlies.

The instructions are great and the fit is always excellent. I have plans to make more this year

  10. Chloe Reed (verified owner)

Lovely pattern and an easy sew! I did find that they came up a little snug so have sized up for the others I have made and they fit great!
