Description
The Free Range Fun Over-Trousers are the perfect thing to protect your little ones when playing outside, whatever the weather!
The Free Range Fun Over Trousers pattern goes right from 6-12 months up to age 12. You can choose between trousers or dungarees/salopettes. They can be lined or unlined. Additionally, they can have straight legs, snap legs or elasticated legs (with optional stirrups.)
Depending on the options chosen the pattern is either beginner or intermediate level. The actual construction is extremely simple, however water resistant/warm fabrics can often be slippy and/or bulky, meaning a little skill is required. An overlocker can be used for many parts but a regular sewing machine can be used for all steps.
Many different fabrics can be used for this pattern but popular choices include softshell, PUL and ripstop.
There are matching adult patterns available – one that uses the female/curve fit measurement chart and one that uses the male/straight fit measurement chart.
This listing is for 4 downloadable PDF files: Instructions, a print-at-home pattern, a copy shop pattern and a projector pattern.
Print the print-at-home pattern on A4/legal/letter sized paper.
Take the copy shop file to a professional printer to print onto large sheets of paper.
Use the projector file to project the pattern straight onto your fabric.
For more photos, inspiration and assistance you are very welcome to join the Waves & Wild Facebook Group.
The measurement charts for all W&W patterns can be found here.
The pattern is created in layers meaning you can print just the layers (sizes) you need.
For a simple-sew coat to complete your cold weather outfit you need the Woodland Wanderer!
This is an instant download PDF, not a finished item. Due to the digital nature of PDF patterns, no refund can be given if purchased in error.

I made these in a size 1 in an afternoon in lockdown. The pattern and directions were easy to follow. I made straps from the fabric in place of elastic for the shoulder straps. I used a soft shell fabric which has a thin fleece lining.

Easy and closely replicate the expensive ones I had bought in smaller sizes. I used elastic for the straps and buckles

These kept my daughter perfectly covered for outdoor play in the rain. They are so easy to sew up! They are absolutely perfect and my daughter loves her rain pants. Also, the sizing allows for extended wear, which I appreciate : )

Such a quick and deceptively easy make. I’ve made several now and they are fabulous…
