This dress was inspired by the beautiful place I am lucky to call home. This may be my home but it is not my land. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land. Kinjarling is the traditional name for place I live. The choice of name has been discussed with members of the local Noongar community including Carol Pettersen – Menang Elder, Recipient of the Order of Australia and Justice of the Peace. I am extremely grateful for their time and advice.

I love this patern, made in light coton, and I will make another one with linen.

My all time favourite pattern! I have made 8 of these now and they are a quick and easy sew. I love that it has a full bust adjustment piece included to save me the effort of figuring it out myself. Instructions include French seams but I have also overlocked seams when in a hurry and had no issues.

I have made this dress twice. One maxi length for summer and one knee length for winter with tights and boots. I love them both. The pockets on this dress are very big, making it beautiful and practical. The instructions are clear and easy to follow with helpful illustrations. The end result is comfy and beautiful.

The Kinjarling dress is a great pattern – it has good instructions and is easy to sew. I really enjoyed making mine, and I enjoy wearing it even more. It’s a dress that feels lovely to wear but is also really comfy. I’ve only made one so far, but I’m keeping my eye out for the perfect fabric for another version! I wrote a more detailed review on my blog here: http://nightingaleanddolittle.blogspot.com/2022/06/waves-and-wild-kinjarling-dress-sewing.html

I made this dress – found it really easy to follow and learnt new things. I did however end up making it too big and gifted it to my mum, who proudly wore it on her Med cruise!

this is a great pattern and as it was my first ever project using a pattern, i am very proud and pleased with the outcome, and will be wearing it on many occasions, i especially love the bow on the back

I’m a ‘confident beginner’ sewer. I’ve sewn a few things – pencil cases, face masks etc – but this was the first proper garment I’ve ever sewn. The instructions were really clear and easy to follow. I just took my time and went really slowly, double-checking everything as I went to make sure I was sewing the right bits the right way round with the right seam allowance each time. Now I can’t quite believe I have a beautiful new dress with French seams, gathers, top-stitching, a neck binding and hems (all things I’d never done before) made from an IKEA bedsheet! I’m so pleased with myself! Thank you W&W for such a fantastic pattern with such clear instructions x
