$14.00 AUD

Level: Intermediate with some beginner+ options

0-3m – Age 12

Description

The Sunset Shirt is a traditional style, unisex, button shirt. Choose between long and short sleeves and between a regular or Grandad collar. There is an optional pocket. Additionally, it can have a regular hem or snap crotch (up to age 4). Finally, you can use regular seams or smart, flat felled seams.

Light/medium weight woven fabrics such as poplin, chambray or quilting cotton are perfect for the Sunset Shirt.

The Sunset Shirt goes from 0-3m up to age 12. It is an intermediate level pattern but there are options suitable for advanced beginners looking to expand their skills.

An overlocker/serger can be used for many steps but importantly a sewing machine is all you need for all options.

This listing is for 4 downloadable PDF files: Instructions, a print-at-home pattern, a copy shop pattern and a projector pattern.

Print the print-at-home pattern on A4/legal/letter sized paper.

Take the copy shop file to a professional printer to print onto large sheets of paper.

Use the projector file to project the pattern straight onto your fabric meaning you don’t have to print at all!

There are several steps to this shirt but I made this as one of my first makes and following the detailed instructions I created a very professional looking shirt that my kid loves and my husband keeps asking me to make him one, pleeeaaase consider offering this is adult sizes if possible

I used this pattern to make my son a shirt for his first day of preschool. He loved it and I loved making it.
The instructions are amazing, I have since cut out more fabric to make another one for him for summer.
I thoroughly enjoy sewing this pattern.

This may not be a quick make, but the pattern guides you through all the steps needed to get a professional result whichever option you choose to sew. As my toddler loves to wear colourful shirts, I’m currently sewing the third version in the funniest poplins and quilting cottons I can find. Mother of pearl buttons and flat felled seams make them look extra classy, by the way. This is a very rewarding make as the pattern will teach you all the techniques needed to sew a shirt.
If you should ever decide to offer this pattern in adult sizing, I’ll be the first one to buy it! Love this!
