Description
The Penny Pinny is a relaxed pinafore dress. Choose between tie straps (which don’t need undoing in order to take the garment on and off) or traditional buckles. There are FIVE pockets for hiding all your stuff. There are two lengths – mini to sit above the knee and midi to cover the knee. In addition, a back split can be added to both lengths. You can also choose to add a button opening at the hip. You can add a button front opening.
This Penny Pinny pattern goes from Prem./Small Newborn right up to Age 12. Looking for adult sizes? Try the Penelope Pinafore.
Medium weight woven fabrics such as corduroy, denim or linen are perfect for this pattern.

Absolutely love the Penny Pinny, lots of options to make it individual, and as always, easy to make because of the excellent Waves & Wild instructions!
Can’t wait to make more.

The Penny Pinny is a firm favourite. The instructions and pattern are both brilliant. It suits all ages, is economical on fabric and looks great across the seasons styled with so many possible combinations of tops and tights/leggings/socks. Best of all is being able to make a matching Penelope Pinafore.

I love this pinnie!! My daughter is getting older and decided the over-more-dress isn’t ‘cool’ enough anymore but this one is still deemed very cool! It fits well and has an easy yet effective finish!

I love this dress. My daughter doesn’t think the over-more-dress is cool enough for her anymore but I’m allowed to make as many of these as I want! Easy yet effective finish and I love how it all comes together!

This is such a simple but effective sew. I love all the pocket options and strap/closing options.
My daughters all love getting a new penny pinny and I love sewing a penny pinny as the instructions are so clear I am able to sew one really quickly.
Brilliant pattern from Waves and Wild, as always.

Such a lovely, simple pattern. Perfect for a daughter who loves denim – but not jeans! The options for different lengths and pockets were a hit too – we opted for knee length and 3 out of the 5 pockets (next time she wants all 5 apparently!) Cant wait to make a matching Penelope for some mum/daughter twinning too!
