Description
Harem Pants are wonderfully cute, super comfortable, and amazingly quick and easy to sew.
The pattern includes instructions to make both full length harem pants and shorts, and to add knee patches and faux pockets.
These Harem Pants have been described by more than one of my mini testers as ‘the most comfortable thing ever!!’ They are particularly good for children who wear cloth nappies as they have plenty of room in the booty department! But that doesn’t stop them being popular with older children too.
An experienced sewist will easily be able to whip up a pair in under half an hour. If you’re a less experienced sewer then this is the perfect pattern to introduce you to sewing with knits. I include detailed, step by step instructions with lots of helpful diagrams.
An overlocker/serger is useful but not necessary and I include directions for using a regular sewing machine.
This pattern is designed for cotton/lycra jersey or any other light/medium weight knit fabric.
This listing is for 4 downloadable PDF files: Instructions, a print-at-home pattern, a copy shop pattern and a projector pattern.
Print the print-at-home pattern on A4/legal/letter sized paper.
Take the copy shop file to a professional printer to print onto large sheets of paper.
Use the projector file to project the pattern straight onto your fabric.

One of my favourite patterns! It’s so quick that I usually whip one up just before we leave the house for a kid’s birthday party. The fit is always perfect with a little growing room, I only had to adjust the length of the legs for my son who is very wide but also very short. It’s my daughter’s favourite PJs, she has a few in french terry and jersey too, works great with both. I love making them, they’re so easy and satisfying, you can literally finish one before your coffee gets cold!

Love these Harem pants. I’ve added the optional frill to a couple of baby ones and they look so cute!

I love the harem pants for kids in cloth nappies. They are quick to sew and quick to put on and are such a flexible fit.

I would class my self as a confident beginner. I bought this pattern to make some gifts for friends who were expecting. I used a regular sewing machine. The pattern was easy to print and piece together. The instructions were very clear. Took a bit of time to do the first pair but then once I was familiar with the pattern knocked up 5 more pairs in no time. Very happy with the finished results.

Such an easy and gorgeous pattern. Both my 3 month old and 2 year old live in harem pants. I’d sewn with woven in the past but making harems for my son 2 years ago was my first experience with stretch fabric. It gave me the confidence to try new things and now I use lots of W&W pattens because the instructions are so good and projector files make cutting a breeze!

This was the first pattern I tried of WW and I was very impressed. Very easy to follow with simple instructions and photos are fab. The harem’s I made when she was 1 still fit her now )over 2 yrs), they do last long. I still make harems for her. Great for PJ bottoms too.

These are the perfect pants for cloth nappies! Roomy enough without being oversized, exactly what I had been looking for. In addition, they are super easy and quick to sew!

The Harem pants are the first Waves and Wild pattern I have made, I found the pattern to be a quick, easy sew and I am really pleased with them – very cute! I am so glad I found you guys! Nice that you are nearly ‘local’! I just need time to sew up more of the patterns. Thanks! Suzanne, NZ

This is my go-to pattern when sewing for kids. It’s such a comfy fit, they look adorable and so quick to whip up. I even managed to sew a pair in just 15 minutes!

Fantastic one piece + bands. Great if you want to make pants without a dedicated front (husband proof). Great harem style.
My little is thick thighed and although I made waist hip to suit (size 2) I did find it more tight on the thigh than I expected from product photos. I’ll go up an extra size next time and it is fine, this is a note for others sewing for thick thighs bubs.

Super super super easy with brilliant instructions but soooo comfy and cute. Definitely make a whole bunch of these they take minutes to put together

Very easy sew especially with a serger/overlocker, very quick to make up. Sizing is true to measurements.
Knee patches I struggle to put symmetrically but I think that is just user error and doesn’t effect the make to much.
Clear instructions with visuals so it’s even more easier for novices to understand.

This has been a lovely go to pattern for my baby and toddler. It was the first pattern I made in Jersey using my overlocker and was so pleased how they turned out. Its also really practical for pulling on and off for nappy changes and worked well with cloth nappies.

LOVE these! They fit perfectly over my baby’s cloth bum, and I just made my second pair in 35 minutes including cutting out! Made in the 6-12m size but have some in 3-6m which I bought secondhand and they’ve fit for so much longer than all his other clothes. So excited to make more.
