Description

The Dragon Dress Up pattern has three parts to turn your little one into the perfect dragon: wings, tail and mask.

The Dragon Dress Up has a flexible fit with elastic straps and velcro fastenings allowing all parts can be worn by children of varying ages and sizes. The wings and the tail come in three sizes: small (approximately age 2-4), medium (approximately age 5-7) and large (approximately age 8-12).

The mask is a beginner pattern. You can sew, but alternatively it can be glued making it a lovely project for children to join in with.

The tail pattern is suitable for enthusiastic beginners.

The wings pattern is intermediate level. The main challenge is sewing through thick layers and then turning the layers. There are plenty of diagrams and tips to help you.

An overlocker/serger can be used for some steps, but importantly, a regular sewing machine is all you need for all options.

This listing is for 4 downloadable PDF files: Instructions, a print-at-home pattern, a copy shop pattern and a projector pattern.

Print the print-at-home pattern on A4/legal/letter sized paper.

Take the copy shop file to a professional printer to print onto large sheets of paper.

I only made the tail and the wings but it took me about half a day to finish. The tail is super easy and pretty straightforward, the wings were quite a challenge but it was soooo worth it! The results are impressive and my daughter’s costume was a hit in preschool on Carnival day. The instructions were very helpful and clear, and although I’m not sure if I want to make another one soon, I loved sewing this!

When my grandsons wanted Zog costumes for World Book Day I knew it was time to attempt the Dragon Dress Up pattern. I used fleece for the tails and, as the previous reviewer mentioned, they were really straightforward to make. I used a heavy interfacing for the wings and turning them right sides out was not easy or quick but I got there in the end. The wing points are not as sharp as I would have liked but the grandsons certainly didn’t notice 🙂 The proof of the pudding is that they both skipped off happily to school and nursery in their Zog outfits and the littlest grandson especially loves swishing his dragon tail!
