A super simple but hugely versatile pattern – Beach Bummies are perfect for loungewear, sleepwear, gymnastics, dancing and playing!
There are slim fitting and relaxed options, plus additional pattern pieces for little ones in cloth nappies. You can choose from a jersey waistband or elastic, and there are several ways to finish the legs. There is also the option to add a semi-circle skirt.
This Beach Bummies pattern is designed for cotton/Lycra jersey or any other light/medium weight knit fabric.

Oh we love the beach bummies – or cartwheeling shorts as they are known in our house! Such a versatile pattern with so many options!! We use the skirted version a lot – it even makes a great school skirt – the hidden shorts underneath were a hit on the playground too apparently! The 4 piece pattern is great for my slim daughters, but with so many options they are even great for cloth bum little ones! They are a quick sew too meaning I can make for twins in no time at all!

Beach Bummies for the win.
These have been a huge hit with my daughter. She wears them everyday under her school summer dress, they keep her cool and mean she can continue to cartwheel around the playground.
They were quick and easy to make, whizzed up on the overlocker in about 15 minutes but would be just as easy with a zig zag stitch on the ordinary machine. Thanks for the great pattern.
